Tips for using this site and the internet
Keyboard shortcuts:
- Press Ctrl + f to find a word on any page. The shortcut brings up a Find windowbox where you can type in a word to search for on a page. (IE/NS)
- Press Ctrl + d to bookmark a page you are visiting. (IE/NS)
- Press Ctrl + h to open the History file in. (IE/NS)
- Press Ctrl + e to open the Search menu.
- Press Ctrl + i to open the Favorites list.
- Press Ctrl + n to open a new browser window.
- Press Ctrl + o to type in a remote address.
- Press Ctrl + p to print a page. (IE/NS)
- Press Ctrl + Home key to return to the top of a page. (IE/NS)
- Press Ctrl + End key to go to the bottom of a page. (IE/NS)
- Press the Page Up or Page Down keys to scroll a page.(IE only)
- To open a new browser window in IE, hold the Shift key while clicking on a link with the Mouse. This is handy when you want to visit a link but don't want to leave the page you're on.
Try it HERE Remember to hold down the Shift key before you mouse click the link. (IE only) In NS it opens a save file window
- Save Time - type in the name of the site you want , press Ctrl + Enter and the http://www.______.com are completed for you. Example: type in digitease, press Ctrl + Enter and the results will be http://www.digitease.com
- If you visit a Web site and start hearing background music or some audio that you'd rather escape, you don't have to turn off your computer's speaker. Try just pressing the Esc key, which often cuts the audio. The exception is Flash movies, which keep playing the soundtrack no matter how hard you try to Esc.
Internet Explorer F Key Shortcuts:
- Press F1 brings up the help window. (IE/NS)
- Press F5 refreshes the current page (reload). (IE only)
- Press F6 highlights the address bar to type in a new URL. (IE only)
- Press F11 Adjusts the browser to full window. Press it a second time to return to normal window.
Also note that if you right click the Toolbar in this mode you can select autohide, just like the Taskbar option. Thus your entire screen is your browser window. To view the Toolbar place your cursor at the top of your screen and the bar appears. (IE only)
