New Library Hours
Don't forget that the library's new hours begin as of July 1, 2007,. The library
now opens each day at 10 am, except Tuesday when it opens at noon. The
library remains open until 8 PM on Tuesday and Thursday but it is no
longer open after 5 on Thursdays. These adjusted hours are the result of
recent budget cuts. Patrons may renew their materials online by
visiting the web site www.warehamfreelibrary.org and selecting SAILS
catalog.
The changes in times reflect an 8-hour reduction in hours open to the public
due to a budget cut voted at Town Meeting in April.
Library Night with the Wareham Gatemen
Join Gatemen fans and library supporters on Thursday, July 5th when the Gatemen play the Falmouth Commodores at 7 PM at Spillane Field behind 54 Marion Road. The Friends of the Wareham Free Library will bring the
bookmobile filled with bargain books for baseball fans to peruse during the game. Lots of library info and gifts will be available. Don't miss this chance to support the Gatement and the Friends of the Library.
Art and Cool Stuff Sale
Join friends and neighbors at the Art and Cool Stuff Sale to benefit the
Spinney Memorial Library Building Fund on Saturday, July 7 from 10 to 3
PM on the Spinney Building grounds at 259 Onset Avenue in Onset
Village. Fabulous art, sculpture, photography, pottery, home
accessories and other cool stuff will be displayed and on sale. Support
the building project pick up some great buys. The Rain Date is Sunday,

Summer Reading Program Features "Catch the Beat @ Your Library!"
Music is this summer's theme, but books and activities are the mainstay
for the Children's Summer Reading Program that began Monday, June 25th.
Story times, programs and reading fun will be available for children of
all ages. Reading incentives will include earning "books" for the
Spinney Memorial Library as the summer progresses. Each Tuesday a
concert will be performed by Cranberry Consorts at 1 PM (no concert on
July 10). Adults accompanied by a child will be admitted free!
Gatemen Story Time
Baseball players from our own Wareham Gatemen will be reading to
children on Monday, July 16 at 11 AM. Join the staff of the Children's
Room in welcoming the players who will spend time reading and signing
autographs. Each week the players who are working in the library this
summer will spend time reading with children at 11:00 AM every
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Don't miss these special story time
sessions with Chris Hicks, Matt Petiton, Dallas Keuchel and Jason
Ogata!
Join the Humanities Quilters!
Like to sew? The Humanities Quilters are looking for others who sew to
join the group that meets twice a month in the morning at the library.
Donated fabric becomes spectacular quilts that are given away to those
in need of comfort or to good causes. Stop by the Main Desk to ask
about meeting dates and times.
Children's Quilt Raffle to benefit Friends of the Library
Five children's quilts will soon be raffled off in the library's lobby
to benefit the Friends. Raffle tickets will be $1 or 6 for $5. Don't
miss a chance at one of these beautiful quilts! Drawing to be held
during the grand opening of the Friends' Book Store on August 25th.

Reading Partners
Adults 16 and over can get help with reading and writing skills at the Wareham Free Library. Trained tutors are ready to meet with adult learners one-on-one and help with basic skills. Please call Susan Pizzolato at the Reference Desk at 508-295-2343 extension 12 for more information about this free service to the community. If someone you know feels limited by his or her reading and writing skills, this program could make the difference.
Home Bound Book Delivery
Persons confined to home or a health facility can now receive library materials delivered to them by a volunteer. Books, magazines and tapes can be checked out and brought to and from the library patron. Large type reading material is also available. Large type magazine delivery can be arranged. Call the library if you think this service might enhance the life of someone you know.
Internet Use at the Library
Visitors and guests to Wareham are welcome to drop by the library and register to use Internet for searching and e-mail access. Please sign in at the Reference Desk for half hour and one hour sessions. Chat and Instant messaging are not permitted at this time. Printing is ten cents per page and these funds are used to replenish supplies of paper and cartridges. User Agreements are available in new patron packets distributed with new library cards and from the staff at the Reference Desk. - Go Fishing! check out a book or video on fishing. Now available - fishing poles & information on where the fish are biting thanks to Mike and Barbara Thomas of "M & D Bait and Tackle". Eight new fresh and salt water rods are available to sign out at the library with a library card and small deposit.
Friends of the Library The Friends of the Wareham Free Library support the programs and services of the library and assist in promoting the library in the community, The Friends meet at the library the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 pm to plan programs, special events and fund raisers. New members are encouraged and welcome as are your suggestions.
