Boston ~
Since its inception in 1973 featuring famed Boston Pops Conductor Arthur Fiedler, the annual 4th of July celebration on Boston's Esplanade has been a local tradition. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country join the event each year. On July 4th, the "Oval" opens and thousands stake out the best seats at the Hatch Shell. As is the event's tradition, the first person who arrives gets the "best seat in the house." The entire area along the Boston side of the Charles River fills up throughout the day, as everyone awaits the beginning of the Pops concert. The concert is immediately followed by a 23-minute fireworks spectacular choreographed to music.
