The One Ring was recently at the Boston Museum of Science! Boston's Museum of Science was host to the U.S.Premiere of "The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition". The exhibit was developed by the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa in partnership with New Line Cinema, the producers of the film trilogy. Following its run at the Science Museum in London, January 11, 2004, the exhibit showed in Singapore before coming to the Museum of Science, in Boston from August thru October 2004 . The next city on the tour after Boston is Sydney, Australia. For a look at the exhibit, go to: LoTR Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibit includes a teachers' guide designed to complement your class visit to The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition. It's an awesome display of outfits, weapons and artwork. There are a few hands on events and a LOTR Gift Shop. My family enjoyed the entire exhibit. Plan on spending some time once inside as the gift shop is the only exit and once you enter the gift shop you cannot re-enter the exhibit. In LoTR Fan Club Magazine, Issue #15, senior leather master Michael Grealish explained the exhibit in his interview: As a prime example, consider the many items on display (then at New Zealand's Te Papa Museum). "(Before) I went to the museum display, I had never actually stopped and looked at a lot of the stuff; you'd make it and the chance to admire it was gone." Grealish says. "You'd make stuff one minute, and then it would be gone out to the truck. So I had never actually seen it beautifully displayed with a caption and some of the pictures from the movie. You really appreciate it." Grealish was not alone in his appreciation, as he had the opportunity to witness other museum-goer's reactions firsthand. "People almost had a reverence for it," he says. "I never realised how potent The Lord of the Rings books were in some people's lives. It's almost like a religious reverence being brought to life." | ||

New Line's official www.lordoftherings.net website. Hope everyone is enjoying their TTT:EE DVD, the extra scenes are great. Find the hidden feature... will you? And the added scene of Brego explains a lot. All you Tolkien fans have only mere days to wait before The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King hits theaters. Until then, check out a photo gallery, read the latest rumors, and practice your Elvish. movies.com: RoTK I've seen TTT twice in theaters and loved it both times so I bought the theatrical DVD. Changes I can live with for the theatrical value. I have all the books if I want the original, I'll read them again (for the seventh time). Most excellent job with the Ents and Gollum! Quite the cinematic epic adventure. I'm happy for folks who have never read the books as they finally understand what us fan/readers have been raving about.
Update...In an interview in the Official Lord of the Rings Fanclub Magazine, Peter Jackson has confirmed that The Two Towers Special Edition will come in at a whopping 222 minutes in length, a total of 43 minutes additional material. Nearly all of this new footage will consist of character scenes, including a good deal of Treebeard expansion with Merry and Pippin and the Ent-draught. John Howe has commented on the extended Two Towers DVD, to be released in November: "Just returned from London where I had the immense treat of seeing the Two Towers in the lo-o-ong DVD version. Naturally, it was an unfinished cut, and while I can't tell you what's in it, it'll certainly be worth waiting those extra months. Of course you must run to the shop in August and refresh your memories with the theatrical release on DVD or video, but you MOST definitely will want the extended version in November. Trust me.Time to stop before I get carried away and say too much." Two Towers lord of the box office. Two Towers was playing on 6633 screens in 3622 theaters across North America. Since opening Wednesday with $US26 million, a sum that set a new benchmark for a single day in December, Two Towers has tallied $US101.5 million after five days. This represents a 33 per cent boost from the first five days of Fellowship, a studio spokesman said. The Two Towers has broken New Zealand's opening day box office record with a staggering $757,887 in takings. Current worldwide box office champ The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers has already shown serious foreign legs in its first five days, grossing US$88 million. TTT is top money maker for the weekend of December 28-29 raking in $48.9 million and was #1 at the box office. "The soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King -- composed, orchestrated and conducted by Academy Award-winner Howard Shore -- arrives in stores November 25.
Grammy winner Annie Lennox contributes to the soundtrack on the song "Into the West," and world-renowned musician Sir James Galway performs on several tracks ..." Official LOTR Film Site

Should you buy the "LOTR" DVD theatrical version? Or should you buy the Director's Extended Edition boxed sets? Is it worth buying the theatrical release? Absolutely, if for no other reason than to be able to preserve the theatrical cut released Dec 19 2001, for future generations (since it won't be included on the spiffy Director's box). You may want it as a collector's item. The Director's Extended Edition boxed sets have the extra thirty minutes, added discs, statues, cards, and for those in the fan club there is an added closing credit list of member's names with an added musical score to accompany it.
